Dr. Julie – Julienne Cook-Mayfield DPT, ATC and Owner

Background 

Dr. Julie is the owner and a practicing physical therapist of Out Patient at Home Physical Therapy LLC. Dr. Julie started out as a certified athletic trainer after graduating with a BS in exercise science specializing in sports related injuries. She started working with high school children with an outreach from a physical therapy clinic concentrating in orthopedics and sports medicine for 3 years. In 2004, she returned to school to get a doctor degree in physical therapy from Northwestern University, with a concentration in neurological rehabilitation and a doctoral thesis in patellar pain syndrome in women. Over many years Dr. Julie provided physical therapy in home health care and outpatient services. Leaving Illinois in 2017 and the role of a supervisor in a clinic in Illinois with a high Geriatric population to move back to Alaska to be closer to family. After moving back to Alaska she started again working in home health. Post graduate work highlights include but not limited to: Balance for Life vestibular training, Medbridge shoulder specialty certification, Medbridge concussion specialty certification, certified kinesotape practitioner, courses in post op total hip and total knee, as well as SI joint dysfunction and lower back pain. Learning is important and maintaining an evidence-based practice critical. Dr. Julie combines manuals, movement, and exercise to reduce pain, improve patient outcomes, and gain functional mobility in a safe and effective manner.
